How to use the schema markup generator
- Pick a type. Choose FAQ, Review, Article or Local business. The table below shows which one fits your page.
- Fill in the form. Each type starts with example values. Replace them with your own. The code updates as you type, and any optional field you leave empty is left out.
- Copy the code. Paste the whole block into the HTML of the page it describes. In WordPress you can use a Custom HTML block, the code area of your page builder or your SEO plugin.
- Test it. Run the page through the Google Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator before you move on.
The generator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How the JSON-LD generator builds the code
JSON-LD is a block of structured data inside a script tag. Visitors never see it. Search engines read it to learn what a page is about without guessing from the text. Every item has a type, such as FAQPage or Article, and a list of properties with values.
Worked example: one FAQ
Pick FAQ and type one question, “Do you deliver?”, with the answer “Yes, within 10 miles.” The generator writes:
- A FAQPage item with a list called mainEntity.
- One Question in that list. Its name is “Do you deliver?”.
- An acceptedAnswer on the question. It is an Answer whose text is “Yes, within 10 miles.”
Add a second question and the list has two entries. Remove one and it goes back to one. A row with a question and no answer is left out, and the generator tells you which row it is.
Quotation marks and other special characters in your text are escaped for you, so the JSON stays valid.
Which schema type fits which page?
| Schema type | Use it on | What Google asks for |
|---|---|---|
| FAQPage | A page that shows questions and answers | Each question with its full answer |
| Review | A page that reviews a product, book or movie | The item, a rating and the author |
| Article | Blog posts and news stories | Nothing required. Headline, image, date and author help |
| LocalBusiness | The home or contact page of a business | The business name and address |
The FAQ schema markup generator and the review schema markup generator cover the two types people ask about most. Article schema and local business schema are the ones most small sites can use on real pages today.
What schema markup can and cannot do
- It does not guarantee rich results. Schema helps search engines understand a page. Google decides on its own whether to show anything extra in the results.
- FAQ rich results are rare now. Since August 2023 Google shows FAQ dropdowns mainly for well known government and health websites. The markup is still valid and still describes your content. Do not expect it to change how your result looks.
- No stars for reviews about yourself. Google does not show star ratings when a business publishes reviews of itself with LocalBusiness or Organization markup. Review schema belongs on a page where you review something else.
- Match the page. Mark up only what visitors can see on that page. Markup for hidden or invented content breaks the Google guidelines.
- Test after every change. A missing comma or bracket makes the whole block unreadable. Test again whenever you edit the code by hand.
Structured data is one part of a page. Write the title and description with the meta tag generator, and make sure search engines are allowed to crawl the page with the WordPress robots.txt generator. More tools are on the website tools page.
How this schema markup generator was checked
Built by Rasel Hakkani, WordPress developer at Swift Web Dev. Every schema type was generated with example and edge-case input, including quotes, ampersands and empty optional fields, and the output was parsed to confirm it is valid JSON with the right types and properties. Test your own markup with the Rich Results Test before you rely on it.

Schema markup generator questions
What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data that describes a page to search engines in a format they can read without guessing. This generator writes it as JSON-LD, the format Google recommends.
Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?
Paste the whole block into the HTML of the page it describes. The head and the body both work. In WordPress you can use a Custom HTML block, the code area of your page builder or an SEO plugin.
Does schema markup guarantee rich results?
No. Schema markup helps search engines understand your page. Google decides whether to show a rich result, and many valid pages never get one.
Does FAQ schema still show in Google results?
Rarely. Since August 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well known government and health websites. The markup is still valid, but most sites should not expect FAQ dropdowns in search.
Can I get star ratings for reviews of my own business?
No. Google does not show stars for reviews that a business publishes about itself using LocalBusiness or Organization markup. Use review schema on pages where you review a product, a book or something else that is not your own business.
How do I test my schema markup?
Paste the code or the page address into the Google Rich Results Test to see which rich results the page can get. Then use the Schema.org validator to check the structure of the markup.
